THEME 1: BUILDING AND EXPANDING MANAGEMENT FOUNDATIONS
At this stage of their career, it is essential that the program participants understand the foundations on which
business activity rests. Program participants will learn the most advanced management techniques available in
business that will drive them to broaden their strategic thinking and deliver value to their organization.
The program modules that will be covered in this section are strategy, finance, marketing, technology, accounting
and organizational behavior. The program participants will appreciate how the different business areas connect
and the impact these business areas have on their functional or technical responsibilities in their organizations
Thinking and Implementing Strategically
The precondition for success in business is the ability to create a “competitive advantage” – this, however, is
easier said than done. In fact, at a minimum, establishing such an advantage will involve a superior
understanding of the prevailing business situation in order to create a strategy that is not easily copied by
competitors. This module aims at developing a “strategic mindset” that will help participants to fully understand
the implications that industry structure and endowments of resources and capabilities have for creating a truly
distinctive and value-creating strategy for their firms.
Financial Management and Performance Measurement
This module aims to providing its participants with the concepts and latest tools of modern financial management.
This module will be focused on the two main decisions financial managers face daily: capital budgeting and capital structure
decisions. In other words, what the firm “does” with their money and where the firm “gets” the money from. Other
issues will be how a company chooses the right balance among different sources of financing, mainly long-term
debt and equity and how it estimates the necessary cash needs for its short run operations.

THEME 2: DEVELOPING MANAGERIAL POTENTIAL WITH BETTER SKILLS
As the participant’s careers advance, their ability to create value by successfully leading others will become more important. In this sense, the High-Potential Leaders Program has been designed to create leaders, not just managers. To become effective in this process, it is critical to develop a deep understanding of oneself and how one interacts with others, learning how to deal with human problems which are frequently encountered in business.
From day one, program participants will work as part of a team, gathering an important interpersonal, cross-cultural experience, developing their 'soft skills' through workshops on team building and management, presentation, communication and feedback skills, negotiation and cross-cultural management. They will also receive feedback from their peers and assess themselves to ensure continual personal and professional development as they refine their observational, analytical, and listening skills to become a more effective leader.

THEME 3: APPLY THE LEARNING IN THE WORKPLACE
The corporate business plan project is one of the most valuable exercises of the program. It will help participants bring all the management concepts together and implement the learning in a real life corporate business plan.
Between each in-class module, program participants will return to their workplace during a 4-week period. Their assignment will be to develop a corporate business plan on a specific topic that they will have had to identify with their directors prior to the beginning of the program. Some examples would be: a business plan to identify new business opportunities within the corporation, to better existing processes or implementing new ideas.
This exercise will challenge participants to apply the business frameworks and tools they have learned immediately back at their workplace. In the second in-class module, participants will present their business plans and will receive feedback from their peers and the program faculty.
In order to prepare the program participants well for this exercise, a module on how to successfully create a business plan will be taught.
